Welcome to AGUN. These terms and conditions set out the rules for using the AGUN website at agun.in and any content, newsletter or service we provide through it (together, the “website”).

By accessing the website you accept these terms and conditions in full. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the website.

1. About AGUN

AGUN is an independent news organisation. The website publishes news, analysis, editorials and multimedia content, mainly in Bengali, with a focus on Bengal and a global perspective. The website and its content are provided free of charge for your personal, non-commercial use.

2. Our content

We take care to publish accurate, fair and timely journalism. However, news changes quickly, and the website is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee that any article is complete, current or free from error, and nothing on the website should be taken as professional, legal, financial, medical or other advice. Opinions expressed in editorials, columns and quoted statements are those of their authors or speakers and do not necessarily reflect the views of AGUN.

If you believe an article contains an error, please tell us through our Contact Us page. We correct significant errors promptly and transparently.

3. Copyright and use of material

Unless otherwise stated, AGUN and its licensors own the copyright and other intellectual property rights in all material on the website, including articles, headlines, photographs, graphics, videos, logos and the design of the website. All rights are reserved.

You may read, download and print material from the website for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may also share links to our articles, and use the social sharing buttons we provide. You must not, without our prior written permission:

  • copy, republish or reproduce material from the website, in whole or in substantial part, on another website, publication or platform;
  • sell, rent, sub-license or otherwise commercially exploit material from the website;
  • systematically extract, scrape or mine content from the website, including for training automated systems;
  • remove any copyright notice, byline or credit from material taken from the website;
  • edit or alter our material in a way that misrepresents it or AGUN.

Short quotations with clear attribution and a link to the original article are permitted for the purposes of fair comment, criticism and news reporting, as allowed by law. For syndication or reproduction requests please contact us.

4. Material you send to us

Reader comments are currently disabled on the website. If you send us material for possible publication, such as a news tip, a letter, a photograph or a video, you confirm that:

  • you own the material or have the right to send it to us, and that it does not infringe anyone else’s copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights;
  • it is not defamatory, obscene, hateful, misleading or otherwise unlawful;
  • it is not sent to promote a product, service or commercial activity, unless clearly identified as such.

By sending us material you grant AGUN a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, edit, reproduce and publish it in any medium, with credit where appropriate. We are under no obligation to publish anything sent to us, and we may edit material for length, clarity and style. If you wish to speak to us in confidence, please say so when you contact us.

5. Advertising

The website carries advertising, including advertisements served by third-party networks such as Google AdSense, which helps fund our independent journalism. Advertisements are clearly distinguished from editorial content. AGUN does not endorse the products or services advertised and is not responsible for the content of advertisements or for any dealings you have with advertisers.

6. Linking to the website

You are welcome to link to our home page or to individual articles, provided the link is not deceptive, does not falsely imply sponsorship, endorsement or approval by AGUN, and does not present our content as your own, for example by framing it within another website. You may not use the AGUN name or logo for linking or any other purpose without our written permission. We may ask you to remove a link to the website at any time, and you agree to do so promptly.

7. Links to other websites

The website contains links to third-party websites and embedded content from platforms such as YouTube and social media. We provide these for your convenience and for context. We have no control over those websites and accept no responsibility for their content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices. A link does not mean that we endorse the website or anything on it.

8. Acceptable use

You must not use the website in any way that is unlawful, that could damage or impair the website, or that interferes with other people’s use of it. In particular you must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the website or its systems, introduce malicious software, or use automated tools to access the website other than ordinary search engine indexing.

9. Availability

We aim to keep the website available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or remove any part of the website, or the website as a whole, at any time without notice.

10. Disclaimer and limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we exclude all representations, warranties and conditions relating to the website and its use. As long as the website and its content are provided free of charge, AGUN will not be liable for any loss or damage of any nature arising from your use of, or reliance on, the website or its content.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
